Ardagh Part III - 2013
I cannot find a name of this church and graveyard. As far as I can tell its usually called The Old Church and Graveyard. A medieval church was believe to have originally stood at this site. ‘Big Pat Farrell’ a leader of the insurgents at the battle of Granard where he was killed in Sept. 1798 is suppose to have been buried there.
The tomb reads:
"Father keep through Thy own name
those whom Thou hast given me
Thine they are”
I have no idea who the tomb is actually for. There is a plaque above it that maybe tells you something about it but it was very wore and overgrown.
To see more photos and learn more about Ardagh, I have a blog post here.
